Our Partners - Our Goals Over the course of more than 40 years in the Hospitality Industry and more than 20 years in Hospitality Education you run into some pretty interesting people. It is one of the joys of this industry and certainly one of the things that keeps things fresh and vibrant for us and, I might say, less than boring. It is also amazing how often you continue to run into the same people - Associates, Colleagues, Clients, Former Students, Vendors, Co-workers, Employees, etc. In fact it is almost impossible to hide out these days! It seems I can't walk into a restaurant, hotel or classroom (and I walk into them every day!) where I don't connect with some of my past and I suspect most of us who have spent considerable time in this industry have similar experiences. I've always called these connections "Friends". But in the Digital World we live in there is a different term used for these friends - Network.
When we were developing and launching this website it was one of our goals to highlight & promote some of our Network of quality service and product providers that we have had a relationship with in order to let our clients and users understand why we call our network "friends". We think you will also benefit from the connection with these providers. We also wanted to provide valuable Hospitality Resources that furnish us with the necessary information for our constant decision making. As time and space permits we will be adding more and more of both to our site so stop by occasionally to see what and who is new and take advantage of their high quality products, services and information. And when you contact them, please tell them "The Pilgrim" sent you! Rich Doyon 7-06
Retail Control Solutions, Inc. Needham, Ma. I met Rob Cotton more than 15 years ago when we both were in graduate school at Johnson & Wales University. We shared classes and assignment completion stress as we marched toward our degree, much as most graduate students do. I remember in our Thesis class I was pretty confused about exactly what we were trying to research and prove but Rob seemed very focused. While I struggled to narrow my topic he was off and running on his. I was impressed. After graduation we dispersed into the world and communicated less and less, separated by geography and our own interests. Well we ran into each other a few years ago at the New England Food Service Expo and have been communicating ever since. Well, as I found out, that focus has paid off for Rob. He is a Major Account Executive for Retail Control Solutions, a leading provider of POSitouch and exclusive distributer of the line in New England. If you don't know about this simple, fast, user-friendly, Software driven POS system it is time to find out about it. Their difference is pretty simple - they are IN the Hospitality business, owning the Gregg's Restaurant Chain in Rhode Island. So their solutions to your problems have been tested in the trenches - they are not just trying them for the first time on your property. And with more than 20,000 installations of the system worldwide many of your colleagues have recognized this difference. Contact Rob and find out more about the POSitouch system. Their office is in Needham, Ma. and you can reach him at 781- 444 - 7300 x 112 or by e-mail at mailto:rcotton@rcs.com Visit their website at rcs-usa.com. Tell him "The Pilgrim" sent you.
Sunset Hill House Sugar Hill, NH Nancy & Lonnie Henderson had the misfortune of buying a house next to ours around 10 or 11 years ago. We have not let them escape our reach ever since in spite of their efforts. They are great folks with great kids (Mary Pearl and Adaline) who bought an Inn 6 years ago. That gave us even more reason to keep in close contact. We have been visiting and working with them ever since.
Sunset Hill House is what remains of one of the White Mountain's 19th century Grand Resort Hotels that attracted the well heeled from Boston, New York, Hartford and Philadelphia to refresh themselves with the cool mountain breezes and escape from the heat of the big cities. It is a piece of history situated on a 1700 foot high ridge perfectly set to catch the sunrise over the White Mountains and the often spectacular sunsets over the Green Mountains. With 28 rooms and suites, Jacuzzis, fireplaces, fine dining with the cuisine of Chef Joe Peterson and causal dining in the Tavern, an indoor/outdoor function facility that makes a special event special, there are more reasons to visit than we can mention or do justice. Golf on the oldest 9-hole golf course in New Hampshire with unbelievable panoramic views of the Green and White Mountains, cross country skiing on that same course and 25 additional miles of connected groomed trails, Alpine skiing at Cannon Mountain just a few miles away as well as close proximity to numerous other ski areas, 360º armchair "leaf peeping" from their deck take one of their planned driving tours to leaf-peep in the Sugar Hill area, a recently added Spa for total immersion into relaxation mode are just a few more reasons to visit, stay and play at the Inn. Did I mention the Wine Spectator award winning wine list, or the numerous dining awards they have won or the fact that Nancy won New Hampshire Hospitality Association's Innkeeper of the Year award....
Sorry, I have to stop. There is just too much to mention, so visit and find out for yourself (Did I mention the courteous and service oriented people who work there? The Chef's Table?) View their Website, talk to Nancy, Lonnie and their personable staff but put it on your calender to visit soon to get the full array of what a Grand Inn can be. Check out their website at SunsetHillHouse.com , e-mail them at Innkeeper@sunsethillhouse.com or call them at 1-800- SUN-HILL (786-4455) or 603-823-7244. Tell them the "Pilgrim" sent you.
